You spent two hours writing a blog post. It went up on your site. Maybe 50 people read it. That’s the whole return on your two hours.
That post has enough raw material for a week of social posts, a few email subject lines, and a newsletter blurb. The problem was never a lack of content. It’s that turning one piece into many used to take another three or four hours you don’t have.
Artificial intelligence (AI) changes that math. Here’s how.
Start With What’s Free
Before you spend a dime, paste your blog post into ChatGPT or Claude. Both have free plans. Then give it a specific prompt. Not “turn this into social media.” That gets you mush.
Try something like: “Write 5 X posts highlighting different takeaways from this article, 1 LinkedIn post with a professional angle, 3 email subject lines, and a 100-word newsletter blurb. Tone: conversational, no jargon, written for small business owners.”
That structured prompt is the difference between usable first drafts and generic filler. You’ll still need to edit. AI copy tends to sound like AI copy without a human pass. But you’re editing, not writing from scratch, which can cut 30 to 60 minutes per post.
Make It Sound Like You Every Time
The biggest time sink is re-explaining your voice every time. Fix that once.
Claude’s free plan includes up to 5 Projects. Create one called “Repurposing,” paste in two or three of your best posts and a few lines on how you talk, and every new post you drop in will come back closer to your voice. If you hit the free limits, Claude Pro is $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually. ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month.
Then Schedule It in One Sitting
Once you’ve edited your posts, load them into a scheduler so you’re not logging in every day. Buffer‘s free plan connects up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel at a time. If you need more, the Essentials plan is $5 a month per channel billed yearly.
So the whole setup costs $0 to start, and around $25 to $35 a month if you outgrow the free plans.
The Trap to Watch For
Every tool in this space brags about turning one post into 20 pieces of content. Nobody talks about whether those 20 pieces perform. Flooding your channels with mediocre AI copy can hurt engagement.
Be selective. Three strong posts edited to sound like you will beat ten that sound like a robot wrote them on a lunch break.
When This Isn’t Worth It
If your blog post wasn’t useful to begin with, repurposing it just spreads a weak message further. Fix the post first.
And if you’re only on one social platform and post once a week, you don’t need a system. Write that one post yourself in 10 minutes.
Here’s What to Do This Week
Take your most recent blog post. Paste it into free ChatGPT or Claude with the prompt above. Spend 15 minutes editing. Post it. If you like the results, set up a Claude Project with your voice and a free Buffer account, and you’ve got a repeatable workflow that costs nothing to start.
